Report by Director of Audit on Military Administration Accounts.
1. I enclose a copy of a memorandum which the War Office have prepared and asked to be forwarded to you, raising certain questions regarding (A) the cost of operating electricity companies in Hong Kong during the period of the Military Administration; and (B) the "103" deducted from accrued pay.

It is not possible for the question referred to at (A) above to be examined in the Colonial Office and I should be grateful for your observations on that part of the War office memorandum. It is observed from that memorandum that"a further sum of $732,841.37 has been charged to B.M.A. for rent" Paragraph 11 of the Audit Report however states that that sum was paid from civil funds, In your observations you will doubtless also deal with this particular point.
3. As regards the "10," deduction referred to at B. of the memorandum, it is observed from paragraph 17 of the Accountant-General's Report that certain refunds were made subsequent to 30 April 1946. I propose to address a separate com unication to you regarding the "10 "
